Sue Simmons Frightens Viewers

Thank you to Beebo reader Stephanie for sending me this clip. Sue Simmons scares me a little here! I wouldn't want to get on her bad side. But I blame Chuck Scarborough. He probably did something crazy off-camera, like suddenly taking his pants off.

This YouTube reader comment is funny: "In NYC, "What the fuck are you doing?" isn't offensive. It's a greeting."

Excellent point, elperromagico!

  1. Glad to be of service! I believe she's yelling at the person responsible for what is shown to the viewers (I can't think of a better way to say that). The story they're "teasing" is about higher grocery prices, but it suddently cuts from a guy shopping for cereal to a cruise ship. But how would she even see that? Maybe there's a screen in front of them that shows what the viewers see.

I love how she starts off with, "We need to acknowledge an unfortunate mistake," like she's going to try to include everyone in the blame! And also, "I said a word that many people find offensive." Uh, yeah, including the FCC@

Ahahahha, yeah, that was rich. It reminds me of Owen Wilson's famously passive apology from "Bottle Rocket." Something like: Some unfortunate things were said...by me.

  3. HAHA, yeah, it's exactly like that! I forgot about that line. Now I'm in the mood for some Bottle Rocket-watchin'.

  4. I did a little research and found that Sue was (supposedly) cursing out Chuck Scarborough himself! When the clip switched to the cruise ship he was supposed to begin talking, but he was playing with his computer!

  5. AHAHAHHAHA! Funny!! That's great. That makes me like her more than if she was just yelling at a crew member (which is what I had assumed).

    Get with the program, Chuck!
