Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings

Well, Guy dragged me to Up In the Air over the weekend, and I'm so glad he did. It was the best movie I've seen in a long, long, long time. I enjoyed every single minute of it, starting with the opening credits which were both visually and musically interesting.

This is the song that opened the movie. It's a cover of This Land Is Your Land by Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. I think there's no point in covering a song unless you add something unique to it. This cover definitely accomplishes that.

  1. Heh! I'm glad you liked it so much! A good time was had by all. I just thanked the benefactor who gave us the movie gift card.

  3. I wasn't sure if I wanted to see it, but I guess I will now.

In semi-related news, Vera Formiga (?) is filming a movie in Tarrytown right now, along with Keanu Reeves and James Caan. Several people I know have spotted Keanu (apparently he smokes a LOT so he's frequently outside the location where they're filming). I haven't been so lucky.

  4. Oh, I hope you do! These days, I often don't feel much like seeing movies, mostly cause of the time commitment. But I liked this one so much. It was really funny and interesting.

After seeing it, I think I'd be more psyched to see Vera Farmiga in Tarrytown than Keanu! That's funny, though. James Caan would be a good celebrity sighting too! That's gross that Keanu smokes so much, although it totally makes sense. He LOOKS like a smoker.
