Technology Loop

Guy and I just had a tedious phone conversation which went something like this:

Me: Did you get my email?
Guy: I don't know. Did you get my email?
Me: I'm not sure. How can I know if I didn't get something?
Guy: Well, my email was responding to your email. I was answering your question about the cole slaw.
Me: Oh yeah. I got that. But did you get my other email?

It went on like that for a while, until it finally occurred to me that we were having an incredibly pointless modern conversation. We had gotten stuck in a technology loop! It reminded me of this Mitchell and Webb skit.

  1. I've never seen them before, but they are funny and oh so on the spot. Are they from a British sitcom?

    Thanks for the laugh.

  2. I'm glad you liked it. :D They have done a few seasons of a British comedy show called "That Mitchell and Webb Look" which is them doing various skits. They also act in a really funny sit-com called "Peep Show." It's popular in England.

Unfortunately, you need a multi-region DVD player to watch either show here. I wish they would release the shows here so that it would be easier for people to watch them.

  3. Netflix has series 1 available to watch instantly. Mark has been streaming it to our TV and obsessively watching certain sketches, like the one with the green clarinet.

  4. Hey, that's good to know!! The green clarinet skit is rude. :D

Have you guys seen "Peep Show"? It's really, really funny, maybe it's available on Netflix too. It's a sit-com. It's very addictive. Mitchell and Webb play the two main characters (best friends but they're kind of mean and insensitive towards each other).

  5. P.S. I didn't know you could stream netflix to TV!! I think I was assuming you'd have to watch downloaded Netflix stuff on your computer. That's pretty neat.

  6. You can stream it with certain devices, including Tivo, which we have. Check the website; you may be able to do it, too! Only the "watch instantly" stuff, though.

  7. I think Guy is afraid of the wires...do you have to do something special with wiring?

We don't have Tivo, but we have the same thing, just a different brand.

  8. No, no wires. We set it up on the netflix website and were given a code to punch in to our Tivo via the regular remote control.

  9. Actually, I just looked, and Tivo is the only DVR that can do it. Also, we didn't have to use wires because we have wi-fi, but you probably have that too.

  10. Oh, INTERESTING! You hear that, Guy??

That is a compelling argument to get Tivo over other brands. But I guess we don't really need it, since we have a multi-region player.
